Saarbrücken (Germany), April 18th 2005: MEDTRON AG supports as first supplier of high performance contrast agent injectors a CANopen Interface to SIEMENS CT-scanner.
MEDTRON AG recognized at an early stage the chances of this innovative technology and has developed an interface based on CANopen standard. The communication between injector and CT-scanner works with CANopen, which offers a standardized basis for a connection of different CAN devices.As one of the first suppliers worldwide, MEDTRON has successfully integrated and tested together with SIEMENS a CANopen interface.
CANopen has been developed by the CiA (CAN-in-Automation Users and Manufacturers Group) and is standardized since end of 2002 as European Norm EN 50325-4. CANopen utilizes as communication technology layer 1 and 2 of the CAN standard ISO 11898-2, originally developed for the use in automobile systems. Recommended by the CiA industry association, the technology has been expanded within automation technology with regard to plug definitions, transfer rate and application layers.
The integration of this interface provides highest demands to the data exchange security between scanner and injector and requires deep interventions in the software architecture inside the injector.
